# Updating XReach on RealWear using RW Explorer

## In a nutshell

Connect your **RealWear Glasses** onto your **PC** or **Mac**, run **RealWear Explorer** on your computer and drag the **APK file** onto the **dropzone** to start the installation. After that, launch the **XReach** app with **RealWear Glasses**.

## Longform

In order to update **XReach** to your **RealWear Glasses** device, you will need the following:

1. A charged set of **RealWear Glasses**. Don't try any updates without making sure you have at least 50% battery.
2. **RealWear Explorer**, installed and running on your **PC** or **Mac**.
3. A functioning USB-cable for connecting your **PC** or **Mac** (and therefore **RealWear Explorer**) with your **RealWear Glasses**.
4. The **XReach RealWear .APK file**, which **Softability** or your **IT department** will deliver to you.

### Install RealWear Explorer

**RealWear Explorer** is an application for connecting your **RealWear Glasses** with your **PC** or **Mac**. One of the more useful things you can do with this application is to install an app onto your Glasses.

From that page, you will click on one of the following links (see screenshot below)

After the download finishes, it's time to run the installer. If you are unsure as to what to do, follow the installation instructions on the RealWear page above.\

There, installing finished, now, launch **RealWear Explorer**.

### Pair RealWear Glasses with RealWear Explorer

While **RealWear Explorer** is open, connect your **RealWear Glasses** onto your **PC** or **Mac** using the correct USB cable.&#x20;

**RealWear Explorer** will detect your Glasses and prompt for the installation of the **RealWear Cast** app onto them.

Click on **Yes** on your Computer. **RealWear Cast** installation will start on your Glasses.&#x20;

Whenever the **RealWear Cast** is launched, and the **RW Explorer** application mirrors your **RealWear Glasses**, there will be a security popup notifying you that anything you show will be seen by whoever is viewing the view from the **RW Explorer** app. Know what this means, and click on **`Start Now`** to continue. You can also say **`Start Now`** to continue.

Now that the **RealWear Cast** app has started, you are able to control the Glasses and take screenshots, and install APKs using the **RW Explorer** app.

### Using the Dropzone to install XReach

At the top right corner of the **RealWear Explorer**, you will see **Drag and Drop APKS Here**. Please check the screenshot below for where the so called Dropzone should be.

Now, navigate to your File Browser (such as Explorer or Finder), locate the **APK** file that has been provided to you by either **Softability** or your **IT department**.&#x20;

Position the File Browser window so that you can see the **Drag and Drop APKS Here** dropzone near it, and click and drag your APK file onto the Dropzone - like this:

If you got as far as seeing a dialog that says **Successful install**, please proceed towards launching **XReach**.

### Launching XReach

Now, command your **RealWear Glasses** by saying:\
\
\&#xNAN;**`Navigate Home`**->**`My Programs`**-> **`XReach`**

You have now successfully manually updated and launched the **XReach** application on your **RealWear Glasses** by using the **RW Explorer** application.
